THE STUDIO
Surfcraft + art + seasonal drops
HOW WE WORK
We’re artists who move between painting, sculpture, design, and craft. Our work grows from a shared practice rooted in place — exploring materials, stories, and objects that connect art and life. Each piece begins in how we experience our home here in Hawai‘i — the island, the ocean, our homestead, and community — and takes form through the work we do in the studio.
OUR PROCESS
Our approach shifts with each season. We gather materials, build prototypes, and follow ideas through to finished works — sometimes as paintings or sculpture, sometimes as objects meant to be used. Some pieces are one-of-a-kind; others return in small seasonal editions.
WHAT WE DO
For our online shop, we create limited-run and custom pieces: surfcraft like paipo and bodysurfing handboards, upcycled jewelry, fine art prints, and other handmade objects. Occasionally, we also offer smaller versions of our original artworks — scaled from exhibition pieces — or collaborate on new designs.
As artists, we continue to create new work for exhibition and commission, guided by the same values of intention and care that shape everything we make.
ABOUT US
Manukai Designs is the shared practice of artists Sally Lundburg and Keith Tallett, based in Pa‘auilo Mauka, Hawai‘i. Our work reflects a long partnership rooted in family, place, and shared curiosity — shaped by the land, the ocean, and community life on Hawai‘i Island.
